“Portals” Series
Throughout most of my work, I have created images that are subjective, that are confluent by juxtaposing two or more images inside a photograph, that blur the boundaries between the interior and the exterior, and that show my love of the natural world. In this series, I have placed various images inside of each other by having created “windows” and “doors” through which you see a natural scene. The background, or the surrounding walls, is a different natural scene. Windows are often associated with vision and perspective. They are often seen as a portal between the inside and outside, representing the boundary between the known and unknown. By transforming the ordinary world around me, I attempt to create surreal, subtle, and poetic images that cause the viewer to do a double take.
